Baldwin County Commission revising grant proposal for Lillian, Wolf Bay boat launches

BAY MINETTE, Ala. — The Baldwin County Commission on Tuesday agreed to revise and expand a $1 million grant application for boat launch construction in Lillian and Wolf Creek.

The Deepwater Horizon Incident grant project calls for construction of a $700,000 boat launch facility, parking areas and amenities in Lillian, and similar construction in the Wolf Creek-Wolf Bay area estimated at $300,000.

The commission also asked the Alabama Emergency Management Agency to expedite review of the application and provide county officials with a decision no later than April 8.

Commissioner Charles “Skip” Gruber said the revision will allow back bay studies related to the oil spill.

“We worked hard to get this,” Gruber said. “Everyone has signed except BP representatives.”
