BALDWIN COUNTY, AL, May 15, 2012 – The Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has been notified and is currently on scene of a natural gas leak which occurred moments ago near the Lakeland Subdivision on Highway 59.
Riviera Utilities has promptly contained the area and is working to repair the situation. Also, on site are the Loxley Fire Department, ALDOT and the Baldwin County Highway Department.
A detour around the area on Highway 59 has been established. All citizens traveling South on Highway 59 will be diverted to County Road 55 and around to County Road 54. All citizens traveling North on Highway 59 will be diverted to County Road 54 and around to County Road 55.
All residents in the Lakeland Subdivision are being asked to shelter in place until the leak has been repaired. Residents in the area have been notified through the Reverse 911 system.
