A Baldwin County farmer was among more than 100 Alabama Farmers Federation members who met with members of Alabama’s congressional delegation March 1 during the organization’s annual Washington Legislative Conference. The farmers attended breakfast meetings with their respective U.S. representatives and heard from Alabama Sens. Richard Shelby and Jeff Sessions as well as Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kansas, who is the ranking member of the Senate Agriculture Committee. Topics of discussion included projected cuts in the upcoming farm bill, increased federal regulation of farms and the need for a reliable agricultural guest worker program.
