STYX RIVER, Ala. — Due to latest advisory received from the National Weather Service and River Forecast Office, the Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency strongly encourages residents in the Styx River area to monitor the river and be prepared to take immediate action.
National Weather Service reports indicate Styx River is expected to reach moderate flood stage of 16.7 feet (17 feet being major flood stage) between noon p.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22.
Swift moving and high rising flood water is extremely dangerous, as little as one foot of water can move most cars off the road and only six inches of moving flood water can sweep a person off their feet.
