BAY MINETTE, Ala. — As Baldwin County citizens face raising costs of fuel, food and basic necessities, the Baldwin County Commission has found a way to help temporarily decrease the cost of basic once per week residential garbage collection.
The commission on Tuesday agreed to allow the Baldwin County Solid Waste Department to temporarily decrease this basic once per week residential garbage collection by $2 per month from May 1 to Sept. 30.
All other services will remain the same.
Basic once-per-week residential garbage collection service is $14.95 per month which will decrease. The rate adjustment is part of the department’s 2010-2011 mid-year budget revisions.
Due to this temporary decrease, the monthly and quarterly billings of approximately 30,000 Baldwin County residences will be reduced by approximately $267,000.
