BAY MINETTE, Ala. – The Baldwin County Sales, Use and License Tax Division will host a free quarterly taxpayer workshop March 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Baldwin County Central Annex Auditorium, 22251 Palmer St., Robertsdale.
The workshop will provide information for any business or individual that deals with or needs information about sales tax, seller’s use tax, consumer use tax, rental/lease tax, video/rental tax, business license issues or personal property issues related to businesses.
The workshop will present information on the following topics:
• Explain who is subject to state and county business licenses.
• Explain when a business license is due.
• Review various tax types and how they are applied depending upon the nature of the business activity.
• Clarify who is subject to register and obtain a tax account with Baldwin County.
Explain what exemptions may or may not be available on various sales transactions.
• Provide instruction on how a taxpayer may use the electronic filing website.
• Explain when a tax return is due.
• Explain how tax discounts are calculated and on what type of tax it applies.
• Explain what penalties may apply to delinquent tax returns.
An open-floor question and discussion session with the taxpayers will conclude the workshop.
