BAY MINETTE — Bay Minette Public Library Director Joanna Bailey is joining her peers throughout the county to provide free family Macbook Air training workshops to assist high school students who will be receiving them next week as part of Digital Renaissance.

 Liz Reed, Baldwin County Library director, said sessions will last no more than an hour and will introduce attendees to the most important settings and software unique to the Mac computer.

 The school system will provide answers to frequently asked questions about the technology of the Digital Renaissance program.

 “We don't have anything scheduled yet but plans are in the works,” Bailey said Wednesday. “I am planning on working with Janice Simon at Baldwin County High School and have students do co-op work here helping people with the computer. We don't have the staff to offer the one-on-one help some patrons need who aren't experienced computer users.

 “This will be a win-win for us and the school. I am excited about partnering with BCHS on this.” The introductory workshops are designed to show families how to help their student implement the technology, and librarians will be available after every presentation to share tips.
