DAPHNE, Ala. — The Baldwin County Watershed Coalition, an alliance of Baldwin County elected officials, real-estate and development interests, chambers of commerce, environmental groups and other key stakeholders, will hold a quarterly public meeting from 9 to 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Daphne City Hall Council Chambers to discuss potential projects to be undertaken by the future public stormwater corporation in order to reduce stormwater impacts on Baldwin County’s waterways.
Public meetings of the Baldwin County Watershed Coalition are held quarterly to update the community on progress being made in the conceptual development of a regional stormwater management authority that will assist municipalities and the county with managing the impacts of flooding, drainage, erosion and sedimentation throughout Baldwin County.
The coalition has been working to design a voluntary, non-regulatory stormwater authority that would operate across political boundaries. The formation of the group stems from the Alabama Legislature’s 2008 passage of a local constitutional amendment allowing Baldwin County residents to vote in a November 2010 referendum to decide whether a fee-based regional stormwater management authority should be created for the county.
