DAPHNE, Ala. — The state of the national economy and Baldwin County’s economic outlook have been on the minds of many as businesses deal with impact from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce’s Business Academy’s May 10 Business Brief meeting will focus on “Preparing for Regional Growth.”
The meeting will feature guest speaker Robert Ingram, the director of Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance.
Ingram plans to speak about the state of the economy and where Baldwin County is headed in the near future.
“I will be talking about the Baldwin County economy and trends that we are seeing, the type of projects we are working on and our outlook for the rest of the year,” Ingram said. “Obviously, the oil spill will be mentioned but I am going to talk about what we are going to be seeing in our economy, including some companies and projects that are looking at coming into Baldwin County.”
He said his speech will be geared toward anyone interested in the economic state of this area and not just business owners.
“They told me to make it funny and informative so I am going to try to do at least one of the two,” Ingram said.
And what does Ingram think about the economy?
“I think it is improving. We are seeing the economy picking back up post-oil spill,” he said.
The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce hosts Business Brief meetings every month on various topics, which have previously included “Baldwin/Mobile Counties Economy,” “Baldwin County Commission Update,” and “Alabama Port Today.”
The Business Brief is set for May 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at TimberCreek Golf Club, 9650 TimberCreek Blvd., Daphne.
