(SUMMERDALE, Ala.) – Baldwin EMC representatives came bearing gifts for some of Baldwin County’s local high school teachers last month.

The co-op presented awards to the teachers who sponsored the winning students from their respective high schools in Baldwin EMC’s Youth Tour program. Each teacher got to choose educational materials for his or her classroom as a token of Baldwin EMC’s appreciation for their involvement in the program.

The winning teachers were: Shannon McCurdy from Robertsdale High School, Nelda Reichley from Gulf Shores High School, Julia Thomas from Spanish Fort High School and Jamar Dumas from Daphne High School.

Baldwin EMC’s Youth Tour is a scholarship program that also gives local high-school students an all-expense paid educational trip to our state and nation’s capitols. The four local high school juniors recently named as the winners are: Travis Eubanks from Robertsdale High School, Weesie Jeffords from Daphne High School, Kevin Travis from Spanish Fort High School, and Olivia Melton from Gulf Shores High School. The students visited Montgomery in March, and will depart for Washington, D.C. in June.
