FOLEY, Alabama - Baldwin County’s high school football teams will play their final region games tonight starting at 7 p.m., and a few teams need to win in order to stay alive in the playoff hunt.
In Class 6A Region 2 Fairhope, Foley, Dothan and Enterprise are tied for second place in the region standings with 4-2 region records behind leader Daphne (5-3, 5-1).
Foley (5-3, 4-2) hosts Dothan (6-2, 4-2) in a must-win for both teams. The Lions were upset by Northview-Dothan last week and must rebound tonight in order to secure a playoff spot. Foley lost to Northview and Daphne.
Northview (5-3, 3-3) will host Fairhope (5-3, 4-2) tonight in another must-win for both teams. A Northview win could knock Fairhope out of playoff contention, while it would keep the Cougars’ hopes alive.
6A Region 2 leader Daphne (5-3, 5-1) has already secured a playoff spot, but hosts Enterprise.
Elsewhere in Region 2, the winless Baldwin County Tigers and Robertsdale Golden Bears will face each other at J.D. Sellars Stadium in Robertsdale tonight. One team will go home with its first win, while the other will fall to 0-9 on the season.
In Class 5A the No. 6 Spanish Fort Toros (7-1, 5-1) will visit Ladd-Peebles Stadium to face the Williamson Lions (3-5, 3-3). The Toros could secure the program’s first 5A Region 1 title with a win.
In 3A the Bayside Academy Admirals (4-4, 4-2) hit the road to face Southside-Selma (1-7, 1-5) in a Region 1 game. The Admirals are tied with three other teams for second place in the region. A win would help secure a playoff spot for Bayside.
