FOLEY, Alabama - February 20 will mark a special occasion and fun event to benefit the Baldwin County Heritage Museum. The 2013 Golf Scramble will commemorate our first annual golf tournament to be held at the Glen Lakes Golf Course in Foley to raise needed funds for the museum’s continued operation, educational exhibits and programs. Committee members are currently seeking players and advertising sponsors for this event.
February’s event will be held at the Glen Lakes Golf Club on Hwy 20, east of Hwy 59 in Foley. The Scramble will take place Feb. 20 at 11 a.m, with registration at 9:30 a.m. Eighteen holes of great golf, lunch, $10,000 hole-in-one contest and other events and prizes will be provided at a cost of just $50 per golfer.
Businesses or individuals may participate by sponsoring one or more of the 18 available golf course holes for a donation of only $100/hole. An 11”X 17” sign including your graphics, if available, will be placed in a prominent location to recognize your support. Also welcome are special advertising gifts, which could be offered as prizes to the many golf participants. To allow time for signs to be printed, the deadline for submitting an application for hole sponsorships is Feb. 1.
For more information about becoming a sponsor and/or participating in the tournament and to receive an application form, please contact the museum at bchm@gulftel.com or call Wed.-Sat between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at 251-986-8375 and ask for Tammy.
A private 501c3 non-profit facility, the BCHM was organized in 1981 with the mission “to preserve the heritage of the family and early farm culture of Baldwin County through the creation of a home for historically significant buildings, artifacts and documents from community life.” Its basic foundations being, Home, Church, School and Community, as it was throughout all of early America.
Each year BCHM continues to advance its mission along with creating an educational experience for young and old. Through its programs with the Boy and Girl Scouts of America, the county 4-H Clubs, Snow-Bird clubs and promotions, senior centers, public and private schools, it has provided the story of the stalwart people who cleared the land, built the towns and made sacrifices to provide us the life we enjoy today in Baldwin County.
We hope you will take part in this worthwhile and fun event by providing your support, as a sponsor, plus help keep this important reservoir of our heritage from becoming what it was setup to preserve -a memory of the past.
