Baldwin Pops plans July 4th musical extravaganza

FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The Honorable Randy Davis (District 96, Alabama House of Representatives) will conduct the Baldwin Pops Band in “A Salute to the Greats” on July 4, at 7:30 p.m., in Fairhope’s Henry George Park. As always, the concert is free.

This Independence Day concert will feature patriotic and jazz music, show tunes and marches. Chuck Stevens will sing four arrangements with the band.

A partial list of concert selections includes “Tribute to Count Basie,” “Over the Rainbow,” “They Can’t Take That Away From Me,” “Big Bands in Concert,” “Cole Porter on Broadway,” “Fly Me to the Moon,” “The Genius of Ray Charles” and “Irving Berlin Showstoppers.”

After intermission, the “Checkered Tablecloth Award” will be awarded for the most interesting picnic setup.

WABF 1220 AM of Fairhope will do a live broadcast.

After the concert, the band will accompany the fireworks show over Mobile Bay, which will begin around 9.

Please bring chairs and picnic suppers and join the Pops for this outdoor concert.

In addition to the local concert sponsors including the city of Fairhope and the Baldwin County Commission, the Baldwin Pops Band is sponsored by a grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts.
