I am writing to you from a small town in Connecticut to let you know how grateful we all are to one of your local companies, East Bay Electric LLC.
Recently, we had an unprecedented October snowstorm that left 95 percent of Connecticut without power. Our local utility company was overwhelmed and had asked for help from out-of-state companies. After seven days without power, you have no idea how glad we were to meet the employees of East Bay Electric, who had left a job they were working on in Oklahoma and driven 45 hours to come help us.
When they arrived, they found the electric service torn away from my house, and I was worried they would not have the parts on their truck needed to replace it. At this point, the crew leader gave me a big smile and told me, “Don’t you worry none; we’ll find a way to get you connected and light ‘er up!”
Sure enough, they had the skills and made the effort needed to quickly get my house back under power. Obviously, the owners of East Bay Electric understand the true meaning of customer service and show it through the efforts of their workforce.
While watching the crew work, I was talking with a supervisor and I made a comment on how it must be tough being so far from home, but that the overtime pay must be nice. He explained that while the pay was nice, it didn’t make up for the long hours away from the family, but his crew liked being on the road because they get a chance to help others and make a difference in a community. That one statement alone told me everything I needed to know about the good people of the Gulf Coast, and I will never forget how I was helped in my time of need.
Please share my story with your readers and the families of the East Bay Electric workers to thank them and let them know they should be proud of the commitment and goodwill of their loved ones. Attached are a few pictures taken outside my house. Who would have guessed there would ever be a “Roll Tide” sign outside a house in Connecticut!
