Nannette Murphy Bales, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009 at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, Fla.
She graduated from Baldwin County High School in Bay Minette and received a degree in accounting from the University of South Alabama in Mobile. After passing the Florida CPA exam, she worked with firms in Vero Beach and St. Augustine, Fla. After moving to the San Luis Valley in South Central Colorado in 1994, she established her own successful CPA practice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Nannie DeLoach Murphy of Bay Minette; and a brother, Robert R. Murphy of Sunnyvale, Calif.
Survivors include her husband, Donald R. Bales of Birmingham; son, Gavin T. Petty of Birmingham; four sisters, Lora M. Leathers and Wanda M. Economou, both of St. Augustine, Fla., Mildred M.Ryan of Vero Beach, Fla., and Mona M. Murphy of Bay Minette; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
A memorial graveside service will be held in Alabama at a later date. Burial will be at Family Cemetery, Whitehouse Baptist Church, Bay Minette. A celebration of her life will be held at the family home following interment.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Community Hospice.
