MINETTE, Ala. — Bay Minette baseball enthusiasts will soon have an

easier time getting to the diamond. That’s because during its

regular meeting on Monday, the Bay Minette City Council approved

funding to improve traffic flow at Halliday and O.C. Waters

parks.

"font-family: Calibri;">“These will

be improvements to make it easier and safer for the children, for

the peolpole who come to watch the games and for those people who

live around there,” Bay Minette Mayor Jamie Tillery said at the

meeting.

"font-family: Calibri;">The council

approved spending a maximum of $12,000 for fencing, asphalt, dirt,

concrete and other items needed to improve traffic flow of Halliday

Park, which intersects McMeans Avenue and Third Street and the site

of baseball programs, and O.C. Waters Park, the site of softball

programs that is next to it.

"font-family: Calibri;">Tillery

originally suggested capping the price tag at $10,000. However,

City Councilman Johnny Biggs advised adding an extra

$2,000.

"font-family: Calibri;">“In case he

(Parks and Grounds Director J.J. Hall) gets in there and finds

something he needs to do,” he said during the work session that

preceeded Monday’s meeting.
