Loy Everett Ballard, 87, a native of Thomaston, Miss., and a resident of Stockton, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at his daughter’s home in Stockton.
He was born July 1, 1920 to John and Bett Ballard. He was a World War II veteran having served with the U.S. Navy and was a member of Stockton Presbyterian Church attending Cottage Hill Chapel in Stockton.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Nora Martin Ballard; daughter, Betty (John) Sweet of Stockton; grandson, John (Mary) Sweet Jr; two great-granddaughters, Cori and Haley; nieces, Gayle Thompson (Devan) Flowers of Stockton and Beverly Villafana of Bay Minette; numerous family members in Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 24 at Stockton Presbyterian Church Cottage Hill Chapel with the Rev. Mike Mann and the Rev. Bert Eyster officiating. Burial followed at Stockton Memorial Cemetery.
The pallbearers were, Tony Ballard, Anthony Moore, Scott Flowers, John Sweet Jr., Charles Geck and John Earle Steadham.
Arrangements were made by Norris Funeral Home, Bay Minette.
