FOLEY, Ala. — The city of Foley has tossed its hat into the “Bark for Your Park” competition ring.

The contest is for the chance to win $100,000 from PetSafe to build a dog park in the Forward City. Four runner-up prizes of $25,000 will also be awarded.

Residents can help the city win the contest by going online and voting for Foley. Just visit and vote every day through June 7. According to contest information, a pool of finalists will then be announced.

“Based on the information provided by each city, PetSafe will evaluate the availability of land, civic leader support, population size, and the total number of votes to select the 15 finalists,” the contest information states. “Finalists will be announced July 7.”

Residents are encouraged to continue voting daily through July 31.

“You can vote twice, once on the website and once through Facebook,” said Foley City Administrator Suzanne Kellams. “Please get all of your family and friends to vote as well.”

Then the winning cities will be announced Aug. 7.

According to the contest website, at press time, 244 votes have been cast.
