DAPHNE, Ala.— Larry Allan Barnette, husband of Daphne City Council member Cathy Barnette, has been found, according to the Daphne Police Department, which Thursday reported he was last heard from on Tuesday around 2 p.m. The Daphne Bulletin Thursday reported on the search at its Web site, baldwincountynow.com.

Barnette was located in Tuscaloosa, Ala., around midnight Friday, according to police Lt. Jud Beedy, who said the 40-year-old was standing on a corner and was identified by Tuscaloosa police.

“Mr. Barnette is in good health and will be coming home soon,” Beedy  had said in statement.

The Barnette residence, which apparently received a considerable number of phone calls on the disappearance, Friday issued a statement through Kären Nady, a family friend who helped field inquiries.

“We really, really wanted to express our appreciation for the Daphne police and all the hard work they did; just the people of Daphne,” Nady said. “She’s just had an outpouring of calls and e-mails and support from everyone. She wanted to thank everyone for that.

“It’s meant a lot to the family.”

Cathy Barnette had last spoken to her husband on a cell phone at around 2 p.m. Tuesday and “nothing was out of the ordinary,” Beedy earlier said.

A family friend, speaking on behalf of Cathy, who was present during a conference call with a Daphne Bulletin reporter Thursday, said Larry Barnette has a heart condition and that he takes a blood thinner to regulate it.

Not taking medication for this condition—the details of which Beedy hadn’t explained, prior to Cathy Barnette’s disclosure—could have been a prelude to having an affect on Barnette’s disorientation, Beedy initially said during the disappearance.

“He’s fine,” Beedy said on Friday. “His medical condition might have played into it (his disappearance) but not having his medication had no impact (on his health).”

“We’re getting him home today.”
