Marie Brush Barry, 93, a native of Huntington, N.Y., and a resident of Fairhope, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 in Fairhope.
She was the first woman to ever take science classes at the University of Alabama where she later received her Master's Degree in education. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph (Shirley) Barry of Glen Cove, N.Y., and Robert (Rebecca) Barry of Fairhope; six grandchildren, Jean Marie (Brendan) Dailey of Brookville, N.Y., Debra (Bryan) MacCausland of Downingtown, Pa., Joseph (Elizabeth) Barry III of Oyster Bay Cove, Long Island, N.Y., Catherine Barry of Locust Valley, N.Y., Robert (Debra) Barry Jr and Rebecca Barry both of Fairhope; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Fairhope.
