John Vance Bateman Jr., 85, of Lillian, died Thursday, July 24, 2008 at his home.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Bateman.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha M. Bateman of Lillian; four sons, John V. Bateman III, Patrick Bateman and Scott Bateman, all of Cincinnati, and Chris Bateman of Houston; two sisters, Catherine Barrick of Dallas and Letitia Heffner of Knoxville, Tenn.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
