SPANISH FORT, Ala.—USS Alabama Battleship Memoral Park will host author and photographer Col. (Ret.) Albert J. Nahas from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. May 22.

Nahas will sign copies of his "Warriors Remembered," a 240-page coffee-table book chronicling Vietnam veterans’ memorials from all 50 states through photographs.

Nahas, who was born into a U.S. Army family and served 18 months with the 101st Airborne Division between 1968 and 1970, amassed more than 285 pictures depicting the unique stories of some 100 different memorials across the nation.

Jackson "Jack" Hill of Spanish Fort said he personally wants to ask Nahas how he settled on only about one-tenth of the memorials in existence to feature.

"I’m just really curious. It had to be really hard to decide which ones told the story he wanted to tell. I hope he’ll tell me," said Hill, a military history buff and veteran of the Vietnam War himself.

According to the book’s official website, Nahas began researching the memorials in 2002 via the Internet and spent six years traveling, photographing and conducting interviews for the work. He dedicated the book to "all American Warriors, both male and female" and to his 29 West Point classmates who died while serving their country in Vietnam.

The book signing will take place in Battleship Memorial Park’s Ship Store.
