John Conrad Bauer, 95, of Smarr, Ga., former resident of Summerdale, died Sunday, July 13, 2008 at Heritage Health Care of Forsyth, Ga.
He was a native of Buboise County, Ind., and moved to Summerdale with his father. He was a farmer in the Summerdale area for many years and for 30 years he served as the secretary/treasurer for the Baldwin County Cattlemen’s Association.
He was a Mason and Shriner. He was a member of the Sonora Masonic Lodge of Summerdale and the Abbott Temple Shrine of Mobile.
He was active in the Summerdale Methodist Church and was also a tireless community volunteer. He joined the Mt. Zion Methodist Church after moving to Smarr.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Bauer Kieffner, and a brother, Hilbert Bauer.
Survivors include his wife, Eulala Harrison Bauer of Smarr; daughter, Barbara Ann Bauer (Warren) Faulk of Smarr; son, Larry Lamar Bauer of High Point, N.C.; sister, Cecelia Bauer Willis of Fairhope; two brothers, Quentin Bauer of Summerdale, and Daniel Bauer of Pine Mountain, Ga.; five grandchildren, Neil H. (Mary) Hightower Jr. and John Bauer (Juliette) Hightower, both of Thomaston. Ga., Heidi H. (Ben) Brewton of Augusta, Ga., Harrison (Kristen) Bauer of Florissant, Mo.,and Lee Ann Bauer of Florida; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visiation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16 at Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home. Friends may also sign the on-line guest register at www.pasleyfletcher.com. Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, July 17 from the chapel of the Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home of Thomaston, Ga., with the Rev. Chris Mullis officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will follow at South View Cemetery.
