DAPHNE, Ala.— A sizeable crowd gathered at Battleship Memorial Park Saturday for a different kind of egg hunt hosted by Bay Community Church in Malbis.
The church stuffed 100,000 plastic Easter Eggs with candy, small prizes, cash or prize tickets to redeem for iPods, scooters and tickets to Disney World.
The small black helicopter circled the drop zone multiple times, scattering the 100,000 eggs prepared and donated by the church. After watching the eggs accumulate for nearly half an hour, the children were let loose into the drop zone.
A melee of children and adults scrambled to reach the eggs first and scoop up as many as possible.
After more than an hour of anticipation, the egg hunt was over in a matter of minutes, but witnesses said the event created memories that would last a lifetime.
