BAY MINETTE — The Bay Minette City Council will consider a proposed land-use/zoning ordinance during its regular meeting at 6 p.m. today in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

The land-use ordinance, which would define how property in the city of Bay Minette is zoned, was introduced during the Feb. 7 council meeting but was sent back to the Bay Minette Planning Commission for changes. The amended ordinance will be presented tonight for its first reading.

If approved, a second reading will be held during the March 7 meeting and the ordinance will become municipal law.

Other items on tonight's agenda include:

* Setting a public hearing for March 21 regarding the re-zoning of property at 701 Brady Road from R-3 to B-2.

* Consideration of an ordinance allowing the city to enter into an agreement with Alabama Department of Transportation for the next phase of the sidewalk project,  part of an ongoing project to put sidewalks in areas of Bay Minette, particularly surrounding the municipal pool facility.

* A proclamation for Arbor Day, which for Alabama is Feb. 21-27.

* At the 5 p.m. work session, the council will hear from John Eads of Volunteers of America and members of the Rotary Club to discuss the Independence Day fireworks.

* Council members will also discuss proposed capital expenditures during the work session.
