BAY MINETTE — The Baldwin County Commission, city of Bay Minette and Baldwin County United want to remind people that despite economic hardships, residents of Baldwin County have much to be thankful for, from a proposed auto plant to the people of this county who extend their hand to those in need.
To do so, they will host the Fifth Annual Day of Thanks Breakfast Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at the Bay Minette Civic Center.
"(The breakfast) is to acknowledge and reflect upon the great achievements, blessings and growing prosperity of Baldwin County," the commission said in a proclamation.
Baldwin County United Executive Director Janice Boudreau said the event has grown every year.
"In the past we have had an attendance of 125 or so. It has grown each year, so hopefully we will have even more this year," she said. "Each year the tone of the event has been patriotic, as it will be again this year, with the presentation by Honor Flight South Alabama," Boudreau said.
The Honor Flight South Alabama program sponsors World War II veterans on a day trip to Washington, D.C., to visit their memorial.
"(Honor Flight) is to recognize and honor the tremendous service and sacrifices of America's greatest generation," Dr. Barry Boothe, organizer, said.
The breakfast is free and open to the public. For more information or to RSVP, call (251) 937-7927 or send an email to baldwinunited@aol.com.
