BAY MINETTE — A lot has been going on this week at Baldwin County High. The homecoming game against Satsuma will begin on 7 p.m, Friday at the BCHS football stadium.
During the half-time show, the freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior maids will be recognized. These young ladies were chosen by their classmates.
The Homecoming senior queen will also be recognized. Last year’s homecoming queen, Kayland Lamar, will be passing down her crown to the new 2007-2008 queen.
The homecoming dance also will be Friday from 9:30 p.m. to midnight. The attire for homecoming is Sunday dress. The homecoming parade will begin Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Bay Minette Intermediate School, travel around the square, and make its way back to the Intermediate school.
Last week, students have been able to dress out of uniform for Homecoming Week. On Monday, the students were allowed to wear their silliest socks and shoes.
Tuesday they came to school hardly seen as they camouflaged. Each class had a different era of time to imitate on Wednesday. Thursday students were able to wear their homecoming shirts and jeans. And on Friday students supported the Tigers by wearing only orange and black.
Homecoming Week was also the first week to the following next nine weeks left of the quarter. Students, it is very important to keep your grades up as high as you can. If you are struggling with something, free tutoring lasts until 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons in the cafeteria.
Attention students! Do you have pictures that you would like to be in the Balcoala Yearbook? Well, you can bring them to room 307. They can be from a trip this summer, a football game, or any activities. It has come to our attention that a policy has been made regarding the maximum amount on any received checks.
All checks written toward BCHS may not exceed $150. You may write multiple checks for anything that does go over this amount. An example for this is the senior ads. A majority of senior ads are more than $150, so if you decide to buy one that does go over this price, please write multiple checks. Your checks will not be accepted if they are more than $150.
Remember that this is for checks written for any payments regarding BCHS.
The National Anthem Choir meets on Tuesday mornings at 7 in the BCHS choir room. It is open to anyone who would like to come and listen and join the fun!
Are you craving barbecue? The BCHS Band Boosters will be selling Boston Butts with the Knights of Columbus until Oct. 19. You may order them from any of the band parents for $25. The pick up date is Saturday, Oct. 27. You can pick-up your orders at the St. Agatha Catholic Church at 10th Street and Hand Avenue.

All seniors need to make sure to check their emails for scholarship opportunities. Mrs. Warfield is sending emails to all the available addresses for any scholarships that she may receive. If you do not have email access, check the counselors’ office for any financial aid that you are eligible for.
Key Club has been asked to help with the concession stand at all the home volleyball games. You may sign up at the meetings or you may go by Mrs. Owen’s room.
Key Club will be collecting Coke tabs for the Ronald McDonald House throughout the year. Last year, they received $7,000 from recycled Coke tabs. Bring your tabs by Mrs. Owen’s or Mrs. Miller’s room.
On Halloween day, students will have the opportunity to give blood. Vampires are not the only ones who need blood to survive. There are thousands of people everyday whose lives are saved from someone giving blood.
BCHS will have their first blood drive for the 2007-2008 school year. The BCHS Key Club will be sponsoring the drive. Make sure to mark your calendars for this event! You would be able to save three lives with one unit of blood that you donate!
