BAY MINETTE — North Baldwin residents will get a second chance to see the Mystic Revelers parade this weekend.
The parade, originally scheduled for this past Saturday at noon as part of Bay Minett’e’s Mardi Gras celebration, was canceled due to inclement weather.
The city’s other celebration, the Bay Minette Civic Club-sponsored Mardi Gras Fest 2, suffered the safe fate.
“We didn’t even have it,” Civic Club President Greg Mais said in a telephone interview.
He explained that while vendors had set up for the two-day festival, high winds and rain made for difficult conditions.
“They ended up going home,” Mais said.
According to Mais, this year’s festival won’t be rescheduled.
“It’s just sad,” he said.
However, the Mystic Revelers parade has been rescheduled for noon Saturday.
“Let’s just hope it doesn’t rain again,” said Debbie Jones of Mystic Revelers during a telephone interview.
The majority of the parade will remain the same. However, the focus will shift away from Mardi Gras and onto the upcoming season.
“It will be called the Mystic Revelers Spring Fest Parade,” Jones said.
Saturday’s parade will begin at Bay Minette Middle School and travel by Wal-Mart onto McMeans Avenue, D’Olive Street, around Courthouse Square and ending at the Bay Minette Civic Center.
