BAY MINETTE, Ala. — The Bay Minette Police Department is offering an amnesty program through July 31 which allows people who surrender on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant to sign a personal recognizance bond for court appearances without fear of arrest, according to Police Chief Michael Rowland.
Arrangements will be made to pay outstanding fines and court costs through the court’s payment plan.
Rowland said there are about 500 misdemeanor warrants in municipal court. Charges range from minor criminal offenses to failure to appear in court.
Many warrants resulf from an offender’s failure to pay fines and court costs after being directed to do so by the court, Rowland said.
The names of people with outstanding warrants are available on the city’s Website at cityofbayminette.org. For more information, call the Bay Minette Municipal Court at 580-2559 or the police department at 580-2559.
