BAY MINETTE, Ala. — The Bay Minette Senior Center’s computer classes will restart Sept. 8, with subsequent classes scheduled each Monday.

Training will consist of a one-hour basic class at 8:45 a.m., followed by a one-hour, advanced class at 10 a.m. Six weekly sessions are planned for each series, but may be extended if necessary to cover all material.

The basic class is for beginners who have little or no computer experience. The first two sessions cover Windows Desktop, basic computer settings, navigating Windows folders, launching programs, searching folders and adding and removing software.

The next three sessions cover document creation and editing, using Microsoft Word 2003. The sixth session will cover the Web.

The advanced series is for individuals who completed the previous May and June basic class, or for those who already have a moderate knowledge of Windows PC software. The first session will cover advanced document features.

The next sessions concentrate on basic photo editing, burning CD/DVD data disks, PC tuneup, and Web security, including antivirus and anti-spyware applications.

A final session will be for those interested in creating and burning videos and home movies to playable DVDs.

Handouts will be provided for each class and reference books covering Microsoft Word 2003 will be available for checkout.

Due to the limited availability of computer stations and the need for one-on-one personal help, only six people per class can be accommodated. Interested parties should call the Senior Center at (251) 580-1676, or come by to sign up for classes.
