BAY MINETTE, Ala. — Bay Minette’s new universal playground is slated for completion next week.

During the Bay Minette City Council’s regular meeting Monday, Mayor Jamie Tillery announced that the project is expected to be open by the Kiwanis Club Kids’ Day at Bay Minette Elementary School on Saturday, Sept. 17.
Located adjacent to the Bay Minette City Pool Complex, the playground is a facility designed to provide access for children with special needs.
“This universal playground will be for all children,” Tillery said about the $67,372.30 project.
Work began on the playground in early July. Before it can be opened for use, the mayor said it had to meet approval upon completion.
“The city of Bay Minette will not sign off on the project until inspections have been made,” Tillery said.
