DAPHNE, Ala.— The Bay Rivers Art Guild awarded the top photographers in its 2011 photography judged show on March 19 at an awards ceremony.

Bay Rivers Art Guild photography show winners announced

DAPHNE, Ala.— The Bay Rivers Art Guild awarded the top photographers in its 2011 photography judged show on March 19 at an awards ceremony.

The photographs submitted for the show will remain on display at the Bay Rivers Art Guild until April 7 and many of the entries are for sale through the Bay Rivers Art Guild.

The show included 58 photographs by local photographers Lynn Rios, office manager for the Bay Rivers Art Guild said.

Award-winning bird photographer Terry Hartley judged the show and selected the best three overall photographs, three honorable mentions and the photographer best used special effects.                                       

Cindy Schober’s “The Greyhound Ballerina” photograph won the overall best of show award and $300. Schober’s photograph is on sale for $100 at the Bay Rivers Art Guild until April 7.

“Dress Rehearsal,” a photograph by John Bradshaw, won the second place prize and $100. His photograph is on sale for $25.

Kathy Hicks’ photograph, “A Fine Evening on the Bayou with Friends,” won third place and $50. Her photograph is on sale for $85.                             

Marty Campbell was awarded the special effects award for “Flounders,” which is for sale for $100.

The merit awards were given to Robert Schober for “Anya in Wonderland,” Jerrid Jones for “Church Steeple,” and Cindy Schober for “Couture Millinery at the Point.”

The entire photography show will be on display at the Bay Rivers Art Guild until April 7.

The merit award-winning photographs are also on sale, along with many of the other photographs entered in the show. The Bay Rivers Art Guild will receive a 25 percent commission on any artwork sold from the show.

The Bay Rivers Art Guild is planning to hold its next judged photography show in October 2012.

BRAG will be hosting the Baldwin County H.S. Seniors’ College Scholarship Judged Art Show in April to be judged by Maria Papp.
