DAPHNE, Ala.— Bay Rivers Art Guild will offer a workshop titled “Not Your Usual Pastel Workshop” that will be taught by Barbara Thomas. Thomas is an artist whose work has been displayed locally and nationally. She has taught art classes at the Chevy Chase Recreation Center in Washington, D.C., as well as at BRAG and the Eastern Shore Arts Center.

Lynn Rios, office manger for BRAG, said the workshop would be for all skill levels.

“She is going to take a different approach. She will do some basic teaching of basic drawing. She will also give insight into colors and how people can utilize them for pastels. She will show people how to make intricate setups that aren’t too complicated, but still pleasing to the eye,” Rios said.

Thomas, a member of the BRAG board of directors, offered to hold the workshop.

“She made the offer to us to help out in these bad times. Everybody needs help,” Rios said. “Right now, the funds will go towards our overhead. Our administration costs are really what we need help with right now.”

The workshop will cost $150 for a member of the guild and $180 for a non-member.

“If we get 10 or 12 people signed up for this workshop, we will be thrilled to pieces,” Rios said.

The workshop will be held June 7 and 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.

For more information or to register for the workshop, call BRAG at 621-0659. BRAG is at 1704 6th Street in Daphne.
