DALEVILLE, Ala. — A Gavin Primm sack set up a John Bryant interception late in the third quarter for Bayside at Daleville. A pass from Reid Norton to Andrew Smith followed by a Norton to Henry Wise 5-yard touchdown pass turned a 14-14 tie into a 21-14 fourth-quarter lead and the final winning score for the Admirals Friday night.
With the playoff win over the Warhawks, Bayside Academy advanced to the Class 3A second round.
Ryan Warren had scored to put Daleville up 6-0 on their first possession (extra point was blocked), But the Admirals answered on their first drive with a 1-yard Conner Sirmon touchdown run and a Mac Douglas extra point for a 7-0 first-quarter lead.
Bayside extended the lead to 14-6 when Reid Norton found Tucker Milteer at the DHS one-yard line for a first and goal completion. That set up Sirmon’s second touchdown run for a 14-6 lead.
A blocked punt late in the second quarter gave the Warhawks the ball deep in Admiral territory and Kainan Pouncy capped the short drive with a 2-yard TD run. The try for two run attempt by Warren was good and the score was 14-14 at the half.
Daleville finished their season at 8-3. Bayside (7-4) will host Pike County (9-2) at Freedom Field Friday night at 7 p.m.
