POINT CLEAR, Alabama — Bayside's Admirals defeated Saint Luke's 165-172 with Mobile Christian and Cottage Hill Christian at third and fourth at Lakewood on a blustery Tuesday afternoon. Colby Carr was the match medalist with a 37 as the Admiral linksters rolled up their 21st win in as many matches.

Bayside coach Tom Johnson said the streak is impressive considering the youthfulness of this team with freshmen and middle school players bringing home the low scores consistently.

“We're 21-0, so far,” he said. “There is no magic formula. The difference really is the four freshmen who have made a lot of improvement and who continue to work hard to keep it up. Three of them from last year are back, but are back with a lot of summer tournament experience and a lot of work on their own and with extra instruction. But overall, the whole team is playing well and even like today, we did not have one of our better days, but still won by seven strokes. So we're playing pretty well right now. I just hope it keeps up and they can take it all the way."

Meanwhile the Bayside girls improved to 16-2 with a Monday win at Azalea in Mobile. Defending state champion and University of South Alabama bound Caroline Beebe shot a 39 for the medalist honors. The Lady Admirals defeated host UMS-Wright as well as Murphy, Mobile Christian and Saint Luke's.

“The girls are playing very well also,” Johnson said. “And I think consistency has been the big key for them. Their only losses have been to two 6A teams early on. So we hope to continue to play steady but also to improve as we keep going along.”
