DAPHNE, Alabama — The Bayside Admirals trailed St. Paul’s at the end of three-straight quarters but burst ahead in the final period for a 55-47 senior-night home win.

Down 43-41 with three minutes, 30 seconds to go in regulation, B.A. senior David Deneefe made the first of three last-period steals and fed Spencer Newman for a score-tying layup. The Saints’ Tre Williams put the No. 8-Ranked Class 5A team back up at 45-43, but Channing Brodie countered with a deep trey for a 46-45 Admiral lead with 2:11 on the clock. Another steal by Deneefe led to Brodie finishing a penetrating drive with a contested layup to put B.A. ahead for good. A pair of free throws by Greg White left St. Paul’s one point short at 47-46 but the Admirals then hit 7-of-8 at the line to seal the win. Senior Dakota Brodie hit 5-of-6 and Deneefe two at the line in the final 55 seconds to cap the regular season record at 22-6. Bayside’s boys are ranked No. 8 in Class 3A heading into the postseason.

Spencer Newman finished with 14 points, Dakota Brodie added 12, Channing Brodie 10 and Nelson Newman seven for the Admirals who went 15-for-19 at the free-throw line.

Tre Williams and Greg White scored 15 points each and Trayon Tate added nine to lead the Saints who also shot 79 percent from the line.
