DAPHNE, Alabama — The Admirals' sails could find little wind in the first half Tuesday in their 3A Area 1 game with visiting Excel. But the Bayside boys re-navigated from an eight-point mid-third quarter deficit to a 42-29 home victory.

The win puts the Admirals at 2-0 in the area and 5-3 overall heading into this weekend's games at Cottage Hill Friday and at St. Paul's.

Geoffrey Stinebaugh scored 10 points to lead Bayside, Grahm Barnard had nine, Nelson Newman seven, Channing Brodie and Neal Christman each had a pair of 3-pointers and Dakota Brodie added four.

Admirals head coach Ralph Watson was not pleased with his offense after the first two periods but proud of the way they came together later.

"We're making some progress, playing hard, but not shooting well," he

said. "Not as well as I thought we would be by now, anyway. But

tonight we were awful in the first half and couldn't get it going

until midway in the third. But I was proud of how they hung in there

and fought back. And then took care of business in the fourth. I

thought Neal Christman and David DeNeefe played very well and really

helped us get back into it. And Scott Dahlke, those guys all stepped

up. Scott does a lot for us, doesn't score a lot of points but takes

care of the ball really well and tonight had a couple of really good,

big block outs that kind of turned the tide. I mean they were killing

us on the boards, pounding us. But he helped us on some key

possessions and that swung the momentum."
