Tri-M, established in 1936 by band director, Alexander Harley from Chicago, in 1986 was recognized by the National Association of Secondary School Principals as an approved program.

On Oct. 16 Bayside held its first induction ceremony for Chapter 5780 of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. To be selected as a member, you must be enrolled in band or chorus; have at least a B average in music and a C average in other academic subjects; and exhibit leadership, service, and character. Bayside also inducted honorary members including faculty and students.
