DAPHNE, Ala.—Bayside Academy’s kindergarten students recently honed their artistic talents to help create a quilt that will be auctioned off at the school’s upcoming Winter Jam fundraiser, sponsored by Treadwell Honda.
Assisted by parent volunteer Tina Powers, the students were first shown pictures of snow and snowmen, and were then given pastel dye sticks to create their own snowman on cotton fabric.
They let their imaginations run wild and crafted snowmen reflecting several colors of the rainbow, a spokesperson said.
The quilt construction was sewn by Maxine Kline and Nancy Hale of Daphne.
The kindergarten quilt is one of the most sought-after items in Bayside Academy’s largest fundraiser of the year, Bayside’s Winter Jam, which will be held Jan. 31 at Marriott’s Grand Hotel. Jeanene Cockrell, chairperson for the live auction, said the event promises a party atmosphere highlighted by the musical entertainment of the Los Angeles-based band, Superfunk Fantasy, the hotel’s cuisine, as well as the live auction. The auction will showcase items including, along with the quilt, a one-week trip to the Bahamas, a one-week stay in Maine, diamond loop earrings, an LX 570 Lexus by Lexus of Mobile and a riding lawn mower.
Tickets to Winter Jam are $150 and may be purchased by calling Bayside Academy at (251) 338-6414.
