Bayside's golf fundraiser nets $17k

FAIRHOPE, Ala. — Bayside Academy held its 18th annual John A. Robertson Memorial Golf Tournament sponsored by Treadwell Honda on Sept. 14, 2008 at Rock Creek Golf Club. Twenty-five teams headed to the green for a little friendly competition and helped raise $17,000 for the school.

The gross division champion team, representing Treadwell Honda, included Daniel Huggins, Trent Massey, Charlie Pierce and Skipp Scott. The net division first place team, representing Thomas Hospital, included Joe Boykin, Doug Garner, Trey Gwin and Mike Kilpatrick. Finishing second in the gross division was the team of Ken Brown, Ken McWane, Todd Morris and Jim Wishon.

Second place net division winners were Brittany Davidson, Phil Lazenby, Doug Leffard and James Twilley.

Other winners included the third place gross team of Charles Dyas, Maury Lomax, Jim Martin and John Purdam and the third place net team of Dan Matthews, Seth Matthews, Sen. Trip Pittman and Tim Todd.

David Tate took home the award for closest to the pin, Todd Morris won the longest drive in the men’s division, and Carol McKeithen won the longest drive in the ladies’ division.

Bayside Academy’s spokesperson said the school thanks its corporate sponsor, Treadwell Honda, its committee members, Melanie Beiser, Thom Lott, Vikki O’Neil, Trip Pittman, Willard Simmons and George Spottswood, and all of its supporters and volunteers who helped make the tournament a success.
