BAY MINETTE — B.C. Rain's Demarcus Lacey booted a 21-field goal after time had run out to give the visiting Red Raiders a 24-21 victory over Baldwin County's Tigers Friday night at Lyle Underwood Stadium in Bay Minette.

BCHS had appeared to force overtime on the previous play when Rain faked a field goal and tried a pass from the Tiger ten. The pass was completed but short of the end zone as time ran out. But the officials ruled pass interference on the play and on the ensuing untimed down, Lacey kicked the game winner. It was a sloppy game throughout with turnovers, penalties and miscues.

Baldwin County, now 4-4 overall and 2-4 in 6A Area one play, took the opening kickoff and march 68 yards in just seven plays to take an early 7-0 lead.

Two Chase Overstreet completions and three K.J. Thomas runs gave the Tigers a first and goal at the Rain eight and two plays later, Chris Hooks dove in from four yards out. Dalton Coleman's PAT with 9:26 left in the first put the home team in front.

But Rain came right back, going 80 yards in just seven plays. Keyshawn Harper got the final 36 yards for the TD and Lacey's extra point tied it up.

No one could score again until late in the second period as Baldwin County tackled the Rain punter at his own 16 on fourth down. Four plays failed to yield a first down and on fourth, it appeared Coleman had booted a 26 yard field goal. But a penalty against the visitors gave BCHS a first down and three plays later, Overstreet plunged in from a yard out. It stayed 14-7 until half time .

But Rain opened the second half with a six play, 80 yard march. QB Clifford Powell highlighted the drive with a 47 yard run before Harper scored from one yard with 9:32 left in the third. Lacey's point after attempt was low and BCHS led 14-13.

Harper got his third touchdown with :08 left in the third quarter, racing 52 yards. A pass for two was successful to make it 21-14 Rain.

An Overstreet to Thomas 44 yard pass moved Bay Minette to the Rain 26 and an a half the distance late hit penalty made it first down at the Red Raider 13. Following runs of 11 and one by Thomas, Overstreet scored the one and Coleman booted the pAT to tie things up at 21-21.

That set the stage for the final moment heroics by Lacey. Harper led the offenses with 198 yards on 25 carries while Thomas led BCHS with 91 on 17 runs.
