BAY MINETTE, Ala. — Growing up every young kid has big dreams and looks up to special people in their lives. For Baldwin County High School's Jansen Boeschen that
special someone was his uncle Clay Wallace. Clay played baseball for BCHS and
Faulkner State, as a young boy Jansen would go and watch his uncle play and dreamed
that one day that would be him donning on the Sun Chief's uniform and playing for
Wayne "Skip" Larker. Wednesday Jansen's dream came true as he signed a scholarship
to play for Faulkner State and under Larker.
"My uncle went there and kept on telling me how much he loved the school and Skip," Boeschen said. "Also with Skip's record and coaching abilities so it was no doubt where I wanted to go, besides Faulkner is Home."
So far this year Jansen has a record of 3-0 with 23 innings on the mound with 11
walks and 32 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.91. He has hit .368 with a .441 on base percentage. He has seven doubles, three triples, and 13 rbi's and seven stolen bases.
"Jansen started on varsity as an eight grader," BCHS baseball coach Peter Bezeredi said. "As a sophomore he was all county and hit 373. Last year, as a junior was an off year for him, we know he would bounce back for us this year. He has always had all the physical tools but, this year he is a much more mature and confident player and
person. His demeanor is almost completely different in that nothing rattles him and
he is just steady. I personally have enjoyed seeing him be a vocal leader and
helping out some of the younger players. Coach Larker is getting a fine player and
an even better young man."
"Jansen's abilities as an athlete are what I am looking for in a player," Larker said. "He is a good position pitcher that can be molded to fit the needs of the team along with an asset in the pitching rotation. He has a great batting average and a curve ball that I like in my pitchers."
Jansen's parents are Dyke Boeschen and Misty Wallace Boeschen both of Bay Minette.
