FAIRHOPE, Alabama — Baldwin County High School seniors Christopher Steward and Kaitlyn Farley received the Hawkins Educational Foundation scholarships. More than 120 students applied for the highly-competitive award and only 11 were selected county-wide.
Steward will be attending the Honors College at Auburn University to study mechanical engineering and Farley will pursue a nursing degree at Troy University.
Other recipients were: Baylee Alford, Lucas Michaelis and Grace Woodley, Gulf Shores High; Sarah Bryant, Emma Pacey and Connor Raley, Fairhope High; Madeline Laurendine and Kayla Lazauskas, Foley High; and Philip Leff of Daphne High.
Since its inception, the Foundation has presented more than $2 million scholarships. The $4,000 scholarship awards are renewable for four years for a total value of $16,000. The scholarship winners were recognized at a special banquet in Fairhope.
