Bay Minette, Ala. — Last week, more than half of Baldwin County High School’s student body signed the "My Legacy Starts Today" poster, after hearing the story of Rachel Scott.
This means that the students are now making a commitment to themselves to change their lives and attitudes toward a more productive lifestyle.
On Friday, Oct. 5, BCHS students listened to family members talk about Rachel Scott. Rachel was a teen killed in the Columbine High Shooting. She was caring, and treated everyone the same, no matter what their way of life. She wished that everyone would have respect for others.
Rachel’s family and friends now travel the United States to tell Rachel’s story to students, and to try to persuade them into changing their attitudes for the better.
The Rachel Scott speaker talked about a program called Friends of Rachel. This program provides new students with a feeling of warmth and belonging on their first day of school.
Each week, students will meet and review upcoming new students. When the new student arrives, everyone is to approach them, and be as friendly as possible. It is a great way to dissolve clicks and form unity between everyone.
