BAY MINETTE, Alabama – The Baldwin County High School girls and boys basketball teams swept the Class 6A Area 3 finals on Monday with wins over the Daphne Trojans and Robertsdale Lady Golden Bears.
The BCHS girls (14-9) started the game on an 11-0 run and never trailed on the way to a 40-35 win over Robertsdale (14-13). By virtue of winning the area title the Lady Tigers will host Northview , while the Lady Golden Bears will travel to Enterprise on Thursday in the sub-region round.
Baldwin County used its fast-paced transition offense to take the early lead against Robertsdale, scoring most of its first period baskets on breakaway layups.
“We want to push the tempo, that’s what we are best at,” Baldwin County head coach Robert Wills said. “We aren’t always mentally focused on offense when we have to slow down so I try to let them play to their strengths.”
