FAIRHOPE, Ala. – The Baldwin County High Tigers took a 39-32 win at Fairhope Friday in a battle of pace versus push.

Larry Rogers was the only player to record double-digit points with 17 for BCHS. Mario Butler had eight, Jermane Jackson five and Marcus Johnson four.

Fairhope had nine from Hayden Harrelson, seven from Rushing Watson, six from Jerome Jackson, five from Tripp Drummond and four by Donovan Dale.

Baldwin County head coach Lorenzo Hunter said his team was tested by a style of play as well as a good opponent.

"(Fairhope head coach) Andy Ryan does a very good job of what I call, 'Taking the air out of it,'" he said. "And we needed to see that. We don't see that a lot but we will come tournament time. Fairhope always plays hard, gutsy. We just made one more play than they did. That 39 is usually a half-time score for us. They gave us a test but we passed it."

Fairhope controlled the tempo most of the game as planned but came up short on the score board.

Fairhope coach Andy Ryan said there was not really one thing to point to.

"They are just tough. Defend you every possession. You have to work for every shot. It turned into the kind of game we wanted or what we felt like we needed it to be in order to be successful. We stayed close, cut the lead to two at one point, but give Baldwin County credit. They played hard and made the plays when they needed to make them."

FHS hit 11-of-22 free throws, and Baldwin County went 5-for-10 at the line. BCHS is hosting a Christmas tournament Dec. 17-18 which includes Fairhope.
