Thursday, June 4th, I went down to the Fairhope Municipal Beach to pick up trash for community service. I've been to the beach a lot, but this trip really opened my eyes.

The trash on the beach was quite disappointing. There were old shoes, forgotten clothing, and hundreds and hundreds of cigarette butts. I even found a half full jar of pickles.

Fairhope’s founders intended for this beach to be enjoyed by all. I urge beach-goers to clean up after themselves, and smokers to dispose of butts properly. The city has placed bright blue trash cans every 30 feet along the beach. Please stash your trash, and make the Fairhope Municipal Beach cleaner — and more enjoyable — for everyone.
