Beasley, Meek, Sampson and Warner scheduled at bookstore

FAIRHOPE, Ala. — Page & Palette, 32 S. Section St. in Fairhope, will host Terry Beasley Dec. 19, from 10 a.m. until noon. He will sign copies of “Lessons from a Tooth Fairy.”

An educator for 30 years, he spent time as a classroom teacher for third, fourth and fifth grades and as an assistant principal before his current position as the principal for Fairhope Elementary School.

His book is a collection of his columns from school newsletters that he hoped would inform and inspire the parents of his students to set high expectations and standards for their children.

These stories and articles were picked by a team of eight co-workers who felt that these selections taught the value of choices, decisions, actions and attitudes. He has also included a number of poems that he has written over the years.

On Dec. 20, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Kelly Meek, a Pensacola mom and psychologist who has written her second children’s book, “The Little Boy Who Cried Potty,” will be on hand.

This time she paired up with local artist Anne Samson, who created the illustrations. They will both participate in the booksigning event

As with Meek’s first work, this is a book with an agenda. She wrote it in an effort to help her own daughter understand that a visit to a restaurant should not mean visiting the bathroom every five minutes just for a chance to play in the sink.

The book also teaches kids of the importance of telling the truth.

“The Little Boy Who Cried Potty” takes a whimsical look at an issue that many families will face when children first learn to use the potty.

Just when you think “it will never happen to me,” it often does. It’s the art of getting tricked by precocious youngsters to visit the public restroom over and over and over again.

Parents can appreciate the lesson that the story teaches. Kids will appreciate that it addresses a favorite childhood topic — the potty. The illustrations will make everyone smile.

Page & Palette will then host Chris Warner on Dec. 22, from 6–8 p.m., when he will discuss and sign copies of “Professional Bone,” the novel based on the recent experiences of HealthSouth executive Aaron Beam.

In this story, Ron Barton is everybody's All-American. A former small town hero turned college baseball star and Rhodes Scholar, he is the atypical high-profile physician.

Many local readers may recognize many similarities between this fictionalized account and Beam’s recent book “HeathSouth:  The Wagon to Disaster,” of which Mr. Warner was a contributor. He is the author of 13 books and lives in Fairhope.

The authors will exclusively sign all books purchased from Page & Palette. For more, call (251) 928-5295.
