Belly dance graduation party set March 20

All ladies are invited to AtirArts winter semester graduation party on Thursday, March 20, starting at 6 p.m.

The beginner class will perform original choreography by Atira Sofi, owner and artistic director of AtirArts.

The Ghazalla Dancers, AtirArts’ performing troupe, will debut the veil dance that will be taught next semester to the intermediate class.

The finale will be Atira, who promises to captivate the audience with a dance with candles.

AtirArts is Baldwin County’s premier Middle Eastern dance studio, conveniently located a few miles east of Fairhope.

Spring semester starts March 24. It includes a beginner class that will focus on the basics of belly dance, musicality and culture.

Troupe tryouts are March 26. Dancers must perform one choreography by Atira and one choreography (1-2 minutes in length) of her own. Presentation, expression, charisma and technique will be judged.

The AtirArts Boutique is having an inventory clearance on chiffon and velvet harem pants, Turkish-style tops, hip scarves, gypsy skirts and choli top sets.

For more information, or to register for classes, call Atira at (251) 228-1700, or e-mail atirarts@hotmail.com.

Performance videos are on the new Web site, www.myspace.com/atirarts.

AtirArts is also hosting a self-defense class in April. You will learn a great deal about awareness and how to avoid and handle undesirable situations.
