GULF SHORES, Ala. — Witness the mesmerizing power and beauty of Bengal tigers, which have pounced on the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo in Gulf Shores. Courtesy of the Marcan Tiger Preserve, this unprecedented show — “Tigers of India” — is open to the public, and features the rare opportunity to see all four color variations of the Bengal tiger together in one arena.
“These creatures leave me breathless every day,” said Patti Hall, zoo director. “They are so incredibly powerful and command attention when they enter the performance area. We are very fortunate to have a wonderful working relationship with Dr. Marcan, who is one of the world’s foremost breeding experts. Our visitors might have grown accustomed to seeing his cubs that the zoo has been hand-raising over the past four years. But this show will give people a chance to see adult Bengal tigers in a new perspective.”
The evening tiger show will start at 7 p.m. and cost $8 per person (or child).
Or skip the hassle of making dinner and arrive at the zoo early for “Feast with the Beasts.” A $25 adult ticket or a $15 children’s ticket will include a gourmet meal provided by Villaggio Grille and Ginny Lane Bar and Grill and admission to the evening tiger show.
The menu will feature chicken, steak, shrimp and vegetable kabobs, sides of rice and mix salad, beverage and dessert. Meanwhile, the alternative children’s menu includes hamburgers or hot dogs, chips and beverage.
Individuals visiting the zoo during the normal hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. might want to make plans to attend the 10:30 a.m. show.
Admission to this show is $2 plus normal admission prices, which are $10 for adults (ages 13-54), $8 for seniors (55 plus, and $7 for children (ages 3-12).
Children 2 years of age and under are admitted free of charge.
The “Tigers of India” show will be at the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo until Sept. 23.
